“Rape is a choice men make to use sex as a weapon for power and control. For rape to stop, men who are violent must be empowered to make different choices. All men can play a vital role in this process by challenging rape supporting attitudes and behaviors and raising awareness about the damaging impact of sexual violence. Every time a man’s voice joins those of women in speaking out against rape, the world becomes safer for us all.” – Men Can Stop Rape

I know this is a very rough subject but I wanted to share this with you guys. Rape is the most heinous of crimes. There has been a few incidents at my college where sexual abuse has been reported. It’s left many students shaken and worried that the next victim might possibly be them. If school isn’t a place we can hope to be safe then where is? No means No! As human beings we have to learn to respect that.
WAR: (Women Against Rape) Encourages all persons to exercise their rights by teaching them that their bodies and spirits
are sacred and no one may violate that in any way, it is your constitutional RIGHT.

“Violence against women and girls is an international epidemic. According to the United Nations, one out of three women will experience violence at some stage in their lives—a “severe and pervasive” situation according to former UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan. Still, society rarely reflects upon the complicated roots of this devastating problem.” – Marianne Schnall

C’est l’amour | Nakita & Shawn

“Whenever I’m alone with you
You make me feel like I am home again
Whenever I’m alone with you
You make me feel like I am whole again
Whenever I’m alone with you
You make me feel like I am young again
Whenever I’m alone with you
You make me feel like I am fun again

I’ll always love you
I’ll always love you
Cause I love you”

I love seeing happy couples. I had an absolute good time shooting my friend Nakita and her boyfriend Sean. It’s so amusing to watch the two of them interact. She is adorable when she is around him. It’s funny to watch her change from the tough girl she usually is to acting like a sappy teen in love. She promised me that when they get married I’ll be the photographer of choice. Well I’ll sure hold you to that Naki 🙂

Leather | Ayana

“Had a dream that you were in
The leather jacket that didn’t fit
Until we split in two

Half of you turned into glue
And half of me latched onto you
Under the summer moon”

I had to sneak in that very last photo although this shoot was more on the fierce side. I love photographing my models. I usually just keep those spontaneous-laugh-at my jokes photos to myself… 🙂

Eric & Ann Marie | 5.12.12 | Sneak Peek

What if I told you it was all meant to be?
Would you believe me, would you agree?
Its almost that feeling that we’ve met before
so tell me that you dont think Im crazy
when I tell your love is here and now.

Everything changes, but beauty remains.
Something so tender I cant explain.
Well I may be dreaming but til I awake..Can we make the dream last forever?
And I’ll cherish all the love we share for a moment like this.”

Earlier this weekend I had the opportunity to partake in a magical event. I shot my very first wedding. I can’t lie I was quite nervous and anxious before the event. I met the couple before and we got along great so my only concern really was that I would fall short of their expectation. Ann Marie assured me that she loved how creative I am and although she would be the very first wedding I shoot she had set her sights on me.
Needless to say I had an amazing time. Their families are a joy to be around and her children are adorable. Ann Marie was one happy bride. Most of my shots of her she has on a huge smile. Ann marie and Eric I wish you guys the best of luck in the future. You make an awesome couple.

Getting ready for your session | Studio Policy

Hair & Grooming

  • Make sure that your hair is coiffed, clean and camera ready. Always carry a comb and brush along in case you need a touch up in between poses.
  • Avoid having chemical processes performed on hair. If you must refresh your hair color a few days before your shoot.
  • Avoid waiting until the last minute to wax. This applies to sensitive areas(such as bikini line) be sure to take care of waxing a 2-3 days before your shoot.
  • Get rid of body hair. It would seem like common sense but I have run into more of my share of clients who seems to forget so ladies do not forget to shave.
  • Avoid wearing strong perfumes. If your outfit consists of sleeveless tops I suggest a clear/ invisible deodorant. Guys if you usually shave shave, if not be sure to trim.
  • Have your eyebrows professionally shaped and trimmed 2-3 days before your shoot.
  • Take care of your nails. Be sure that they are neat and well maintained.Unless previously discussed short nails; a natural, non-colored, or french manicured look is preferred.
  • Avoid tanning (use sunblock where applicable), new piercings, dyes, tattoos and permanent markers prior to your shoot.
  • If you plan on displaying your gorgeous smile be sure that your teeth are ready for prime-time.
  • The secret to beautiful skin is water. Drink plenty of water and get plenty of rest before your shoot.

  • Wardrobe should always be discussed with your photographer prior to your shoot. This helps set the tone/ theme for your session. Please
contact me if you are at a lost for what to wear to your photo shoot.
  • All clothes must be age appropriate. Avoid too tight or too baggy outfits.Too tight will show everything you wish to hide while too baggy will make you look heavier.
  • Make sure your outfits are clean and well ironed. We help capture a lasting memory you don’t want to look back and regret your clothing choice.
  • Avoid Jewerly that takes away from you. Your accessories are meant to compliment not distract from you.
  • Blouses, Sun dresses, Business suits, Skirts, are all great options. Check out this link on Pinterest for some great outfit suggestions.
  • Along with each outfits, try to bring accessories that will accent or match the outfit but keep it simple. Earrings, bracelets, bags, hats, necklaces, gloves, scarves are all good examples. Props are more than welcomed; books, glasses, backpacks, sport equipment, briefcases, ipods are good examples.

Studio Policy

  • No other cameras on-set beside the photographers. I cannot stress this enough. There is nothing more awkward then having an eager friend or well meaning parent stepping in the way to grab a quick shot of their own. It is distracting and takes up time you’ve paid for.
  • Bringing a friend or family member to your shoot for safety reasons is completely understandable however please do choose wisely as disruptive friend/family members are not tolerated. Please leave children not being photographed at home with another care giver. This if for their safety and to avoid broken equipment.
  • All photo session outside of the studio is dependent on the weather. In case of heavy rain or unmanageable weather your session can easily be rescheduled.
  • Feel free to bring your own CDs/ Playlist to in studio sessions. (The music you like will help you relax)
  • Please be aware that you will be expected to sign a model release prior to your session.
  • 48 hours before your shoot confirm! Call, SMS, or email me to confirm that your plans have not changed, all your questions have been answered and you are not feeling under the weather.
  • Don’t be shy! You are encouraged to share your ideas any time before or during the session.
  • Relax and flow naturally but don’t forget to have fun!
  • And most important BE ONE TIME! 🙂
